Oct 9th Association Meeting Report
The Hamlet Meeting held on October 9th, at 6:30pm was to discuss the pool and delinquent assessment fees.
The pool committee was there to present the ballot to the board. The ballot is a yes/no ballot on whether to open the pool or close the pool permanently. Those who are eligible to vote are members of the association that are in good standings or no more than a year behind on their assessment fees. The ballots will be mailed out by Monday, October 13th, and be due back by October 31st. Whether or not the pool remains open or closes the assessment fees will not be affected. As was discussed in earlier meetings there is money in the budget to repair the pool and bring it back up to code.
About 61% of the Association is currently up to date on their assessment fees as of the meeting on the 9th. An association member asked if the assessment was included in one’s escrow and was informed that unless otherwise stated in the settlement the assessment fees are not included in one’s escrow. If in doubt about one’s standings with the Hamlet Association one can contact the Treasurer for an update. If one is behind in their assessment fees a payment plan can be arranged to help bring them up to date. As of this date the Hamlet is in good financial standings with all of the Hamlet’s holdings being protected by the FDIC.
There have been questions about why we have an association and why we pay an assessment fee. We have a Hamlet Association because the City of Dover requires that all housing developments must have an acting association. The assessment fees that are collected each year are to pay for the many services that are needed to keep our development looking beautiful and running smoothly, and not just for the pool and clubhouse. A copy of the budget is available to those who want them just contact the Treasurer or getting it online through the money matters link at www.hamlethomesasso.org.
The Hamlet Association is run exclusively by volunteers. The Hamlet will soon need able minded people to help form a Nominating Committee to help find other volunteers to fill the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, and an At Large slot. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the current board to see where they can be of help.
